WWE

  • Today marks the three-year anniversary of Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship at Payback 2020. Reigns has held the title for 1,095 days and counting.
  • NXT’s Global Heritage Invitational kicked off last night with Butch defeating Charlie Dempsey and Joe Coffey defeating Nathan Frazer. Butch and Coffey now have two points each in the round-robin tournament. Butch is in Group A and Coffey is in Group B.
  • Dijak honored Bray Wyatt by wearing “Hurt” and “Heal” gloves for his match against Eddy Thorpe last night: “These were the gloves I wore when I worked with @Windham6. He’s got the whole world in his hands. Thank you Bray, you will be missed my brother.”
  • WWE uploaded a 35-minute video of wrestlers sharing their memories of Wyatt.
  • On social media today, WWE posted a storyline update saying that Xavier Woods suffered a cervical strain when Drew McIntyre threw a chair at him on Raw. Woods won’t be appearing on Raw next week: “BREAKING: Xavier Woods suffered a cervical strain after getting hit by a chair thrown by Drew McIntyre. He will miss the upcoming Monday Night Raw.”
  • Dana White again shut down rumors that Ronda Rousey could return to the UFC: “Ronda’s having kids! Ronda built this whole thing that’s going on with the women here, then her dream was to go to the WWE, she went there and did everything that she did there and achieved, she’s made sh*tloads of money. She’s moved on with her life.”
  • In an interview with Khel Now, Ludwig Kaiser said getting to face John Cena at Superstar Spectacle in India is a very special opportunity. Kaiser is teaming with Giovanni Vinci against Cena & Seth Rollins at the live event on Friday, September 8.
  • Dominik Mysterio, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Paul Heyman appeared on WWE’s The Bump.
  • Kurt Angle spoke with Chris Van Vliet on the latest episode of Insight.

AEW/Other Wrestling

  • CM Punk is in Las Vegas to attend the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 57th reunion. Slam Wrestling shared a photo of Punk with Ron Simmons and John Bradshaw Layfield at the event. Tonight, Punk is being honored with the Iron Mike Mazurki Award. The award “is bestowed upon individuals who have made exceptional contributions to professional wrestling and have exhibited outstanding dedication to the sport both inside and outside the ring.”
  • Playing off the spot where he was inadvertently given a Panama Sunrise during the main event of All In, referee Bryce Remsburg noted that he won’t be on Dynamite tonight: “After checking in with @DocSampson13 and his medical team and the blessing of our referee team, I won’t there tonight for #AEWDynamite after viewing a Panama Sunrise in London. Definitely planning to be at @StarrcastEvents Sunday and hoping to be cleared to officiate All Out!”
